Western Railway defeat Freunds to become Mount Carmel Women’s champions

Due to the heroics of Jaswinder Kaur and Rajuta Malik, Western Railway sailed to a 6-1 victory over Freunds Sports Club in the Women’s final of the Mount Carmel Invitation Floodlit Rink Hockey Tournament 2018. The tournament was organised by the Carmel Sports Committee and was played under floodlights at the Mount Carmel Church compound.

Centre forward Jaswinder was the lady of the night and scored three goals, while Rajuta played the perfect supporting role and scored a couple goals to give the team the upper hand in the final. However, the younger and less experienced Freunds players fought well and managed to create a couple of goal scoring chances, but could just manage to sneak one goal.

Results

Women (final): Western Railway 6 (Jaswinder Kaur 3, Rajuta Malik 2, Aseem Manorama 1) beat Freunds SC 1 (Ruqqaiya Shaikh 1).
