World Racketlon Championships: Maharashtra's Ashutosh Pednekar to lead India 'A' side

Ashutosh Pednekar of Maharashtra and Monesh Mashruwala of Gujarat has been appointed as captains of India ‘A’ and India ‘B’ teams respectively, that will be participating in the 17th World Racketlon Championships to be held in Leipzig, Germany from November 20 to 24, 2019. This is the first time Indian teams, which are being supported by J.M. Baxi & Co and Sunrise Yonex, will be competing in the World Championship.

The Racketlon India Sports Association selected the Indian teams after the first-ever National Racketlon Championship, which was organized in Ahmedabad in September, according to a RISA media release.

Besides World champion Pednekar, the other members of the India ‘A’ team include Varinder Singh (Haryana), Abhinava Kashyap (Karnataka), Sidharth Nandal (Delhi), Adarsh Vikram (Tamil Nadu), Sushmita Panigrahi (Goa) and Pooja Shah (Gujarat).

Team ‘B’ comprises of Mashruwala, Prashant Sen (Rajasthan), Vikramaditya Chaufla (Rajasthan), Kapil Dinesh (Gujarat), Amarendu Srivastava (Uttar Pradesh), Urvashi Thapa (Gujarat) and Nidhi Tiwari (Haryana).

Vinodchandra R. Shah from Gujarat will accompany the Indian contingent as the Technical Learning Programmer. Both the teams will depart for Leipzig on Sunday night.
