BEST Strike: Administration issues MESMA against workers; told to vacate their houses

Along with the 10 central trade unions, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) employees are protesting against Maharashtra government pressing their demands. However, the BEST administration has issued notices close to 300 employees under the Maharashtra Essential Service Maintenance Act (MESMA).

While talking to Mumbai Live, BEST Action Committee convenor Shashank Rao informed that the BEST administration also issued a notice to 2,000 employees ordering them to vacate their houses in Bhoiwada, Mumbai. Meanwhile, 350 employees have been told to leave their jobs.

In reaction to this, the women workers have expressed their massive discontent towards the BEST administration. Rao informed that they are ready to go to jail until their demands are met.
