Rejecting Mumbai Metro One Private Limited's (MMOPL) petition, the Bombay High Court has given a strong blow to the Metro administration. Along with this, the court has ordered the state government to form a committee to determine the metro fares and submit the proposal in the coming three months.
The court has clarified that the present metro fares will be applicable for the time being, which range between INR 10 and INR 40. Meanwhile, the committee and Mumbai Metro Private Limited have been asked to prepare a report and submit in three months.
MMOPL has planned to set single ticket travel rates for INR 5, 10, 20, 25, 35 and 45 and return rates for 10, 20, 22, and 35 but was rejected by the HC in 2015.
