Mumbai - Guards and motormen working with the Central Railway plan to launch an agitation on Wednesday that could well disrupt local and long distance train services.

The bone of contention is a committee that decides the duties of the guards and motormen. The committee, set up by the CR, comprises two members from each category, who are elected internally. Both, the guards and the motormen, are upset about the representation of their respective categories on this committee. The guards and the motormen have given the CR administration two days' time to accede to their demands, failing which they plan to agitate by stopping 'overtime' duties. The deadline expires today. Several motormen and guards' associations have supported the idea of an agitation, we learn.

If talks with the administration do not succeed till tonight, we could well witness another disruption of CR services on Wednesday. And this time, the CR will not be able to blame the delays and disruptions on technical failure.
