Loco Pilot Stops Train In The Nick Of Time To Save An Elderly Man’s Life Near Mumbai

An elderly man who was trying to cross the train tracks breathes to see another day owing to the prompt action of loco pilots operating a Mumbai-Varanasi bound train. The said incident transpired near platform number 4 of Kalyan station in Thane near Mumbai, at around 12.45 pm, wherein the elderly man was stuck between tracks.

On viewing this video on social media, many have appreciated the response taken by the authorities.

According to certain reports, Hari Shankar, a 70-year-old man whilst crossing the tracks, tripped when the train approached. Chief Permanent Way Inspector (CPWI) Santosh Kumar on seeing this, raised his voice to warn the loco pilots, S K Pradhan and assistant loco pilot Ravi Shankar G about the man.

Upon realising what lay ahead of them, the loco pilots promptly applied the emergency brakes and managed to get the man from under the train. In order to laud the two loco pilots for their swift action and CPWI that helped save a life, Alok Kansal Central Railway's General Manager proclaimed a Rs 2,000 cash reward for each.

Similarly, in April in Alipurduar, a loco pilot had stopped the train midway to let a mother elephant and its calf pass. This incident too received immense acclaim from the public.
