The Central Railway has decided to stop charging ₹1 for urinals which are present on station premises after a constant demand from passenger associations. But, commuters will be allowed to not pay only at the new urinals which are still under construction.
During a discussion of passenger issues with Members of Parliament (MP), the CR decided to scrap the urinal fee. The officials added that once the contracts are over then the fee will be scrapped until then commuters will have to pay the urinal fee.
Apart from demanding toilets inside women’s compartments, Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant demanded connectivity between the Elphinstone Road foot overbridge (FOB) located at the Churchgate end of the platform and Parel station.
