Digha - Residents from Kalwa and Vitawa blocked rail tracks this morning causing disruption in local railway services on the Central Railway.

The residents were protesting a decision of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation to seal 99 illegal buildings that lie on MIDC land in Digha. According to eye witnesses, around 100 women blocked the tracks, causing disruption of rail services.

For now, police have been successful in removing the protestors from the tracks, but suburban services are not yet back to normal. Local trains continue to run late on the trans-harbour as well as the central line of the Central Railway.
