IndiGo announces direct flights from Navi Mumbai International Airport to 6 cities from March 29

IndiGo has announced the launch of direct flights to six domestic destinations from the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). Services to Ahmedabad, Diu, Goa, Rajkot, Belgaum and Kolhapur will start from March 29, 2026.

The airline, in an official statement, said that ATR aircraft will be used on these routes. The aim is to increase regional connectivity and strengthen its presence in Navi Mumbai. This decision will make travel from metros to tier-2 and tier-3 cities more convenient.

Bookings for these flights are being opened in a phased manner. Tickets will be available through IndiGo's official website, mobile app and authorised travel agents.

Expansion of regional air services

IndiGo explained that increasing flights from Navi Mumbai is part of its broader strategy. The aim is to boost tourism by expanding the ATR network, strengthen the regional economy and provide fast travel facilities from small cities to big cities.

This development is a step towards developing Navi Mumbai International Airport as a major aviation hub. It will also help in reducing congestion at the Mumbai airport.

Temporary changes in international flights

Meanwhile, IndiGo had announced temporary changes in its long-haul international flights earlier this month. The changes have been made due to external constraints on the operations of wide-body aircraft.

Services on some routes suspended

Flights to Copenhagen suspended from February 17, 2026 until further notice. Reduced frequency of flights on Delhi-Manchester and Delhi-London Heathrow routes.

The company said that affected passengers are being offered alternative travel, refunds or compensation, as per the rules.

IndiGo clarified that wide-body operations were started from March 2025 under a ‘damp lease’ agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways. This is a temporary arrangement until the Airbus A350-900 aircraft enter the fleet from 2028.
