Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases are increasing in Maharashtra and the city of Mumbai is one of the worst affected locations in the state. Observing the same, the state government has imposed strict restrictions and weekend lockdown, with an aim to curb the spread of the infectionOn the other hand, this has raised concerns for several migrants in the city, who have once again decided to leave the state due to the crisis.

Amidst this, information regarding some special trains for these workers was being shared on social media. However, upon knowing the information, the Central Railways, took to the official Twitter account to clarify that the same was a rumour. The message shared on the social media platform read, "There is some misinformation in social media that Shramik Special trains are being run.  It is clarifed that 'No such shramik special trains' are run/planned. Railways are running only special trains in summer.  Please do not fall prey to rumours."

"Only confirmed ticket holders are permitted to board these special trains. Please follow COVID19 appropriate behaviour for your and others safety. Follow our social media handle @Central_Railway or visit http://cr.indianrailways.gov.in for authentic information," authorities added.

Increasing COVID-19 cases have raised concerns for the state government and the local civic bodies, whereby officials have informed the citizens to follow the coronavirus guidelines in a strict manner by wearing masks and following social distancing at all times. The fine for violating the rules has also been increased. Currently, the state is observing night curfew and weekend lockdown to curb the cases, however, officials are mulling over imposing a strict lockdown if the cases do not reduce over the new few days.
