Railways to provide spa facilities in waiting rooms

According to sources, a comfortable waiting room with massage and spa, shoe polish, mobile charging and other facilities is being set up at the Mumbai Central Terminus for the first time.

These services are to be provided in the waiting room. However, passengers will have to pay for the same as the waiting room will cost INR 10 for two hours, according to a senior Western Railway official. In addition, the waiting room is to be operational in a month.

The decision to transform the stations of Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) has been taken after witnessing the response from passengers travelling from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). Similar to CSMT, the Railways has decided to set up well-equipped waiting rooms at these stations, which is touted to be operational soon.

At present, the waiting room for passengers travelling on the Mail-Express on the Central Railways is lacking in leisure facilities. Moreover, their rates are also a bit higher. In addition, they are far from the platforms on the terminus. Therefore, the Railways decided to set up a new waiting room at the terminus on a public-private partnership basis.

Accordingly, a well-equipped waiting room was set up at CSMT near the entrance of Mail-Express platforms 14 to 18. In recent developments, a tender has been issued for setting up a waiting room at the LTT station. Moreover, the tender process for the work at Dadar station will be implemented soon.

Moreover, after the completion of the tender process, the month of August will dawn for the construction of the new waiting room which will be operational in a few months.
