The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) has been suffering from huge financial losses and therefore the employees are not getting their salaries on time.
A huge share of income earned by BEST has to be given to TATA Power for their electricity supply on the fifth day of every month. However, after this, there isn't enough money left for employee salaries.

To combat this issue, BEST is in talks with TATA Power to request them to pay the total amount in two parts i.e. half of the money on 15th of every month and the other half at the end of the month. If the proposal is approved, it will enable BEST to pay salaries on time.
Notably, after a go-ahead from Bombay High Court, BEST is all set to introduce 80 new electric buses out of which 40 will be air-conditioned.
