After receiving several feedbacks from its commuters with regards to making more space Metro 1 carried out an experiment wherein they removed 16 seats from one of its rakes. Currently, every coach has 48-52 seats. Talking about the same, Metro 1 official stated that this will create additional space in the area, accommodating 32 commuters, instead of 16.

This experiment will be carried out for 2-3 weeks and the final decision will be taken after the due observation. However, seats reserved for senior citizens and pregnant women won't be changed. According to MMOPL, the current capacity of a rake is around 1,500 passengers, with 1,300 standees (87 per cent). The average journey time is less than 10 minutes.
