Trams Treat For Mumbaikars

Trams would soon be a part of Mumbaikars' life. While the older generation has always been excited about trams, the younger generation is not aware of the mode of transport. In order to make them aware, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to create a replica of trams in Bhatia Garden. It's all set to be a tourist attraction at the centre of architecture in South Mumbai right opposite Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.

The restored tram was operational between 1874 and 1907 in Kolkata. The two coaches were brought to Mumbai and preserved at the BEST museum. BJP member Atul Shah suggested that there should be a track for tourists to take tram rides.

The entire project would cost ₹15.73 lakh and has been approved by BEST. However, they criticised the BMC and BEST administration for ignoring the debt ridden condition of BEST. Mumbaikars will soon be able to witness the delight trams have to offer.
