The Maharashtra highway traffic police has announced the closure of Mumbai-bound lane on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway for two hours today, July 27.
Highway traffic officials said authorities had requested them for time to clear the debris so they decided that the Mumbai-bound lane of the expressway will be completely closed between 12 noon and 2 pm.
This development came owing to the work being carried to clear the debris after the landslide took place on the expressway few days ago.
Suggesting an alternative route, officials also said vehicles going towards Mumbai from Pune can use the old Pune-Mumbai highway.
It is pertinent to note that two instances of landslides were reported on the Mumbai channel of the expressway on Sunday, July 23 and Monday, July 24, which had caused major traffic jams on the route. Often landslides on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway causes heavy traffic on the stretch. So, this was necessary as it shall help us in the future.
