To reduce the confusion faced by passengers, platform renumbering initiative is about to begin at Mumbai’s one of the busiest railway stations, Dadar. This renumbering will kick-start from December 9, 2023. Central Railway is aiming to remove confusion arising from similar platform numbers.
Dr. Shivraj Manaspure, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway, said, “Authorities have already directed all concerned departments of Central Railway Mumbai Division to initiate necessary actions and ensure preparedness for the rollout of the new platform numbering system on December 9". There are currently a total of 14 platforms at Dadar station of Central and Western Railways, of which seven are under Western Railway and seven under Central Railway.
Western Railway platforms will retain their existing numbers 1-7 while Central Railway-controlled platforms will be renumbered, starting with 8 and ending with 14. Necessary changes are being planned in the display board to facilitate this change.
