On Monday, drivers of app-based aggregators Ola and Uber, had planned to carry out a protest rally from Bharatmata in Currey Road to Vidhan Bhavan at around 10:00 am. However, police booked the protestors denying them the permission to do the same. For now, they have been sent to Azad Maidan to carry out their protest.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, around 40 per cent drivers remained off roads which lead to hike in cab fares as high as twice the normal fare. This is their second attempt wherein they are putting pressure on thr government and their parent companies to give in to their demands, one of which includes increasing the base price and per km rate in line with rising fuel prices in order to increase the drivers’ profit margins.
Prior to this, the drivers went on a 12-day agitation that began from October 22 and stopped when the state transport minister Diwakar Raote intervened.
