Railways raze stalls near Chembur station

Chembur - Unauthorised stalls near the Chembur railway station were targeted for demolition by the railway authorities this week.

The demolition drive started on Wednesday. 12 stalls faced the brunt of the drive on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Some of the stall owners raised a protest against the action, and the police took around five persons into custody, it is learnt. "We have all the documents we have been serving customers outside the station for the last 25-30 years, then why are our stalls being targeted for demolition?" asks a stall owner R Chinnaswamy.
