Sahyadri Express May Be Restored to Mumbai After Platform Works: CR GM

The Sahyadri Express operating on the Kolhapur–Mumbai route is likely to be extended back up to Mumbai once ongoing platform-related works in Mumbai are completed, Central Railway General Manager Rajiv Shrivastava has said.

He stated that the train’s earlier service up to Mumbai has been affected due to infrastructure development work at railway platforms in Mumbai. “Once the platform works are completed, we will plan to restore the Sahyadri Express service up to Mumbai,” he said.

The assurance was given during a visit to Kolhapur, where Senior Divisional Railway Manager of the Pune Division, Rajesh Verma, was also present. Representatives of passenger associations Shivnath Biyani and Baba Nimbalkar attended the interaction.

Passenger groups have welcomed the assurance regarding the Sahyadri Express but continue to demand faster infrastructure development and improved last-mile connectivity at Kolhapur railway facilities.
