Soon, you will be able to travel from Mumbai to Bali on a cruise! In a meeting of Highways department officials on Tuesday, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that his ministry is soon coming up with a cruise route from Mumbai to Bali, Indonesia. The new development is targeted at boosting tourism.

The cruise will go up to the Andaman Islands via Goa and Kochin. The ships can also go up to Bali, hence it will be possible to go to Bali on a cruise from Mumbai. The cruise service between Mumbai and Goa is likely to start operating this year in September.

The ministers also informed that the Mumbai-Goa waterway has been opened for boat service. The technical problems for the service have now been solved and the route is now open to the public.

Mumbai and Goa will further be connected by a service from a private shipping company. The trail of the service has been conducted and is put on hold for the monsoon and will resume two months post-monsoon.

Mumbai has a state-of-the-art terminal which gets 80 cruise ships.
