Western Railways has a good news for its passengers that there will be no addition to the prices of the AC local trains for the next six months. Initially, the authority had decided to hike the prices of the services due to the increasing number of commuters travelling in the AC local. When the services began in November last year, there was a shortage of passengers but as summer drew closer, people turned to AC locals.

The local train offers its services from Monday to Friday between Virar to Churchgate at the minimum fare of ₹60 and the maximum fare of ₹250. A monthly pass from Virar to Churchgate costs the passengers more than ₹2000. Western Railways had decided to increase the AC local fares from June 25 but now they have postponed their decision for six months.

In the beginning, the Railways was worried as they did not get the expected response but during summer, the picture changed and the number of passengers increased. However, now the Railways does not want to risk the numbers and is afraid that if the fares are increased, the passengers could stop travelling by the AC local.
