The number of people traveling without tickets in local trains has increased tremendously. Therefore, ticketless passengers are being arrested by conducting a special ticket campaign. The Mumbai Division of Central Railway has collected a penalty of INR 100 crores in this financial year after checking tickets. The INR 100 crore mark was crossed till February 26 in the previous financial year. This year on February 13, 13 days already, it has crossed the INR 100 crore mark.

Passengers are requested by the railway administration to travel only after purchasing the ticket. At present, awareness is being created among the passengers by creating a slogan 'Take a train ticket and travel with dignity'. Along with this, by conducting a special ticketing campaign, thousands of ticketless passengers are being caught and fines of lakhs are being collected every day. More than 12.74 lakh ticketless passengers were caught during the year through regular ticket checks, Tejaswini Squad and other ticket checks. A fine of more than INR 100 crores has been collected in this, information was given by the Central Railway Administration.


Arrest of ticketless passengers on Central and Konkan Railways

In January 2024, 9,548 ticketless and irregular ticket holders were caught on the Konkan Railway. A fine of INR 2,17,97,102 was recovered from them. Meanwhile, the Central Railway on Tuesday checked five trains and caught 85 ticketless passengers and fined INR 33,340. A team of 6 RPF jawans was deployed.
