Navi Mumbai: Prices of vegetables increase at APMC; Rise in prices of Shimla, Cucumber, French Beans

In Vashi’s Agricultural Produce Market Committee  (APMC), the prices of vegetables have been increased on Tuesday and the prices of capsicum, brinjal, peas, cucumber have increased by 10% to 15%. 


Traders have informed that due to unseasonal rain and extreme heat, the production of vegetables has decreased and the prices have increased. Unseasonal rains and changes in climate have reduced production and have affected the quality of vegetables. Inflows in the APMC market are decreasing and the prices of the highest quality vegetables have increased.


Traders informed that 594 carts arrived in APMC on Tuesday, where 392 quintals of cucumber, 1482 quintals of capsicum, 76 quintals of french beans, 323 quintals of brinjal, and 1045 quintals of peas were received in APMC. The prices of tomato, guar, okra, cabbage, cauliflower, carrot are stable and the prices of green chilli have come down, while the prices of capsicum, brinjal, green peas and cucumber have increased.

Earlier, French beans were available at INR 40-45 per kg in the wholesale market, now the prices have increased by INR 10 and it is selling at INR 50-55. Capsicum used to cost INR 20-22 per kg, now it is selling at INR 30-32. Cucumbers are being sold at INR 16-18 per kg from INR 12-14 per kg and eggplants are now being sold at INR 16 per kg. 


Overall, prices of these vegetables have increased by 10% to 15%, while the prices of green chillies and peas have fallen.
