Mumbai's water supply is set to face a disruption on January 17 and 18. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has planned to replace a 1,200-mm pipeline along Dockyard Road in Nava Nagar. The work is scheduled to start at 10 am on January 17 and is expected to be completed within a day.
The replacement of the old pipeline that runs through the Bhandarwada reservoir is aimed at improving the water supply in the E ward, which includes Dockyard Road, Naigaon, and Byculla. A new pipeline with the same diameter of 1,200mm will replace the existing one. The work will be completed within the 24-hour period.
However, this maintenance work will affect the water supply in the E, A and B wards on Wednesday and Thursday. Some E, B, and A ward areas—including Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Nariman Point, Dongri, Mazgaon, and Byculla—will have no water supply at all due to this work. On the other hand, some areas like the JJ Hospital area will get low pressure water from 10 am on January 17 to 10 am next day, January 18.
