Although the south side of the Costal Road project will be open to the general public from Tuesday, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, including heavy vehicles, will not be allowed to enter the road. A speed limit of 80 km per hour has been imposed on vehicles. Construction of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) ambitious Mumbai Coastal Road project is underway from Princess Street to the southern end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Bridge. 86 percent of the project has been completed.
Out of the total length of 10.58 km Mumbai Coastal Road project, nine km stretch from Worli to Marine Drive will be started. A large number of vehicles are likely to enter this route from Tuesday. Therefore, the municipal administration has also planned it with the help of the transport department.
Safety instructions
To start this route, the transport department should complete the process and issue orders, for this, the coastal road department of the municipality has sent a letter to the transport department. As per the instructions of the transport department, the BMC has directed the concerned contractors to arrange security guards, towing vans to take care of safety at various places on this route.
Coastal Road Access
Coastal Road can be accessed from Bindumadhav Thackeray Chowk, Rajni Patel Chowk and Bhulabai Desai Road in Worli, while exits are at Amerson's Garden, Bhulabai Desai Road and Marine Drive.
