Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut has been tested positive for the coronavirus. On Friday, he said that those who had come in close contact with him should get themselves tested. Raut becomes the ninth minister in the Uddhav Thackeray cabinet to contract the coronavirus.
“I have been tested positive for Covid-19 today. I would like to request to all those who had come in contact with me the past few days to get themselves tested as a precautionary measure. Stay Safe everyone and take care (sic),” Nitin Raut tweeted.

Raut is the working president of Congress in Maharashtra and is also the guardian minister of Nagpur. He is the ninth cabinet minister in the Uddhav Thackeray government to test positive for COVID-19.
Recently, Dr. Vishwajeet Kadam who is the Minister of State (MoS) also tested positive for the coronavirus. Kadam, Congress leader, informed that he has mild symptoms and is undergoing treatment at home in isolation.
Earlier, Sunil Kedar had also tested positive for the coronavirus. Kedar heads the animal husbandry ministry in the Uddhav Thackeray government.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Asim Azmi have been tested COVID-19 positive. Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Nana Patol had also tested positive for the coronavirus ahead of the monsoon session.
Jitendra Awhad, Ashok Chavan, Dhananjay Munde, Aslam Shaikh, Balasaheb Patil, Sanjay Bansode, Sunil Kedar, Abdul Sattar and Vishwajit Kadam from the Uddhav Thackeray cabinet have tested positive for the coronavirus.
