Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai informed that nearly 8,403 unskilled workers registered on the state government’s ‘Maha Jobs’ portal will be trained by the skill development and entrepreneurship department where they will be imparted vocational training as required.

The ‘Maha Jobs’ portal aims at making local manpower and employment opportunities available to companies and workers, respectively. The industrial employers and job seekers can register on the job portal - https://mahajobs.maharashtra.gov.in/ - run by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

Nearly 2.86 lakh people have registered for jobs on this portal. Of these, 8,403 unskilled workers who have registered will be assigned to the skill development and entrepreneurship department of the Maharashtra government for training.

The ‘Maha Jobs’ portal, launched by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, is a combined effort of the department of industries and labour to provide a skilled workforce to the industries in the state.

A meeting was held at Mantralaya under the chairmanship of the Maharashtra Industries Minister to review the Maha Jobs portal and department officials were present at the occasion. In the meeting, Desai instructed the skill development department to provide training to unskilled workers who seek employment.

Marketing officers, fitters, welders, machinists, tool operators, tuners, electricians, office assistants, and human resources development are among the top ten areas with the highest level of employment skills. The concerned authorities have been asked to make the workforce in the business sector easily available to the companies.

Earlier, Desai had said that through this portal job seekers will get employment opportunities in 17 sectors including engineering, chemical, pharmaceutical, logistics, textile among others.
