Parel - The abolishment of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes has started hitting people badly as they are finding it difficult to purchase medicines. Medical shops in Parel, such as National, New Swastik and The Parel, known for giving 24-hour service, were kept closed on Wednesday. This infuriated the relatives of patients taking treatment at hospitals in the area. They started opposing the chemists for this but nothing concrete materialised. The police reached the spot on time and the situation was brought under control. Though the tension ended, people did not get the medicines provoking people to speak against this decision.
