In order to avoid heavy traffic amid Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) marked 61 locations as 'no-parking' zones across 22 roads from August 30 in Dadar West.

However, BMC informed that after September 3, they will start taking action against those who park at the no-parking locations. BMC has provided a free parking space at Kohinoor building which can accommodate 1,004 vehicles.

According to media reports, BMC G North Ward Assistant Commissioner, Kiran Dighavkar said that this move is to ease the flow of traffic in the area.

We will provide an exception to citizens till Tuesday. Dadar Bazaar is popular for festival shopping as Ganesh Utsav is an important time for Mumbaikars," Dighavkar informed.

BMC has sought an 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) from traffic police till November in order to make these roads a no-parking zone for three months on an experimental basis. The same can be extended further.
