There is a lot of crowd in local trains during working hours in Mumbai, due to which people sometimes have to face accidents. Central Railway, which comes under the Central Government, has already made changes in the timings of its employees. Following which, now Post Office Headquarters (GOP) Mumbai has also decided to change their working timings.

Central Railway changed their working timings from November 1 to reduce the rush. The Central Railway Administration has written letters to more than 500 establishments to change the timings. These include ministries, government-private offices, multinational companies-establishments.

The Bombay Post Office has responded to this correspondence. Mumbai Divisional Railway Manager Rajneesh Kumar Goyal said that the post office is ready to change the working timings of the post office for crowd management in the railways as well as for the safe travel of the employees.

The delivery staff come to the post office adjacent to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus early in the morning i.e. around 6:30-7:30. Employees arrive at the windows at 9:30 am. This will give the office employees the option to change the timings, said Kishan Kumar Sharma, Chief Postmaster General of Maharashtra Board of Postal Service, while talking to 'Maharashtra Times' newspaper.

The total number of employees in Mumbai Post Office is up to 600. Of these, 200 are office employees and they will be given the option of time shift. Presently regular working timings are 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. Such options will be given one to one and a half hours before the current time or from 11 am. Sharma also clarified that further decisions will be taken after the feedback of the employees.
