After Jet Airways shut down in April 2019, some services from Mumbai to Heathrow (London) were affected. But as per recent reports, Air India is all set to use the same slot for this popular route for its non-stop flight.
As stated in Hindustan Times, After getting slots at Heathrow airport, country's national carrier, Air India, will operate flights on this route thrice a week, beginning on February 14. Airline sources stated that the carrier has been successful in acquiring slots at Heathrow for the winter schedule that ends on March 28 and will be extending operations as per the new summer schedule.

Recently, Air India had also announced direct flights from Mumbai to London's Stansted. Parallelly, IndiGo is also looking at expanding its routes and has announced direct flight service from Mumbai to Hubli in Karnataka. This flight service will start on April 1, 2020.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport witnessed a steady rise in the number of passengers travelling to countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia etc. Records state that over 4,88,538 passengers travelled from Mumbai to Bangkok i.e. 669 passengers per day, in the financial year 2018-19. Keeping these numbers in mind, 24 new direct flights were started from Mumbai to Southeast Asian countries in 2019.
