Andheri bridge collapse incident: Injured Manoj Mehta dies due to multiple organ failure

On July 3, a part of Gokhale bridge collapsed on the railway tracks between Vile Parle and Andheri claiming one life and injuring four other people.

After Asmita Katkar — who died in Cooper Hospital after undergoing treatment for five days — 52-year-old Manoj Mehta died on Sunday due to multiple organ failure at Nanavati Hospital. After battling for his life for 27 days, Mehta breathed his last in the hospital.

During the incident, Manoj (52) and Asmita (36) suffered grievous injuries, while Dwarka Prasad Sharma (47) and Giridhar Singh (40) sustained injuries during the accident. Manoj Mehta had suffered injuries to his right shoulder, chest and lower waist.

On July 3, 2018, when the bridge collapsed, Katkar was returning home after dropping her son to the school while Mehta was preparing himself to board Andheri-Dahanu local train.
