A special ambulance service for stray animals has been launched in Vasai by the Arham Yuva Seva Group to provide timely medical assistance to injured and sick animals.
The initiative aims to ensure that stray dogs, cats, and other animals injured in road accidents or suffering from illness receive immediate treatment. The ambulance is equipped with first-aid facilities and medical support, including access to a doctor. After receiving primary treatment, animals requiring further care will be shifted to veterinary hospitals.
The organisation has also started a dedicated helpline number 7662005409 for emergency assistance. The service was launched with the support of Namramuni Maharaj Saheb, and the ambulance was inaugurated on Sunday, May 17.
According to the organisers, many stray animals lose their lives because they do not receive medical help on time after accidents. The service has been introduced to address this issue and improve emergency response for animals in the region.
Meanwhile, in Pune, the SAAHAS organisation founded by Geetanjali in 2019 is currently caring for 131 stray and abandoned animals. The group provides free medical treatment, rescue and rehabilitation services, veterinary OPD support, and assistance for cow shelters.
Earlier this year in March, actor Esha Deol inaugurated Mumbai’s first mega animal ambulance initiative launched by the Arjun Kandhari Foundation, aimed at strengthening animal welfare services in the city.
