CSTM launches battery-operated cars to ferry senior citizens and disabled people

Soon, disabled and senior citizens would be able to walk at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM) without any hassle, all thanks to battery-operated cars launched by the Central Railways. These cars will be available on platform No. 2 and 4 and will cost ₹40 per trip. It has the capacity to accommodate six to eight people along with the luggage.

According to the CR officials, nearly 47 pairs of long-distance trains arrive and depart from CSTM, and until now there was no provision to ferry senior citizens or disabled passengers from one platform to another.

In a few days, similar cars will be made available at Kurla, LTT, and Dadar stations as well, especially, where long-distance trains depart.
