BMC To Undertake Beautification Of Bal Thackeray Statue

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will undertake the beautification and radiance work of the statue of Bal Keshav Thackeray, the late Shiv Sena founder near Regal Cinema, stated reports.

It was back on January 23, that the statue was inaugurated on his 95th birth anniversary. This transpired at the traffic junction in Fort close to the National Gallery of Modern Arts (NGMA).

Civic officials elaborated that the work will entail permanent lighting near the bronze statue which is nine feet. Additionally, it will also include beautification of the platform, as well as, putting up a red carpet leading up to the statue.

Based on reports, an official from the BMC elucidated how the lawn surrounding the statue will be ameliorated. Further adding that it will be maintained by an appointed contractor.

Moreover, CCTV cameras will be put up at the traffic island where the statue is put up, mentioned a BMC official. The civic authority has floated a tender to appoint the contractor for the said beautification project.

According to accounts, during the unveiling of the statue, state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray termed it as an “unforgettable” moment of his life. On the other hand, the minister and grandson of Bal Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray, donned it as an “emotional” moment.
