Additional eight inmates admitted to JJ Hospital on Sunday

On Friday, around 82 inmates from Byculla jail were admitted to JJ Hospital when they started vomiting and complained of stomach pain. Around 79 inmates were discharged while many other inmates were kept under observation.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, eight more female inmates from Byculla jail were admitted to JJ Hospital with complaints of vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach pain.

Of the inmates, a four-month-old baby boy was admitted with similar symptoms along with two pregnant women. Vinda Kirtikar and Advocate Asha Landge of the Maharashtra State Women's Commission also visited the jail and hospital.

Meanwhile, the BMC collected water samples for testing and the FDA collected samples of the medicines the prisoners were given before this whole incident unfolded.
