Andheri: Five People Injured After Building Lift Collapses

On Monday, December 13, five people that included three children were reported to be injured when an elevator in a housing society collapsed. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the building was located in Andheri East in Mumbai, reported news agency, ANI.

Based on accounts, the mishap transpired at a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) building named Mahakali Darshan on Azad Road. The elevator is claimed to have come crashing down from the ninth floor.

The BMC officials and fire brigade got to the spot promptly. Officials from the civic authority mentioned that the occurrence was under control. Further, they elaborated that five people involved in the incident only sustained superficial injuries.

All of them are reported to have been taken to Aditya Nursing Home and are stable. The mishap occurred at the ground plus 16 storey building at 12.50 pm on Monday, reports stated. 

On the other hand, earlier last month, a house collapsed in the Antop Hill area on November 9. The structure that crashed down was a G+1 located at Jai Maharashtra Nagar, Opposite Ganpati Mandir, Church Gulli, Antop Hill, Wadala.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade had elucidated that nine people were rescued from the debris of the collapsed structure. Later, they were shifted to the Sion hospital, reports stated.

Moreover, upon the immediate reporting of the incident, four fire brigade vehicles, one rescue van, one dumper, 1 JCB, reached the spot for rescue operations.
