Four additional judges have been appointed to Bombay High Court and the notification issued on Wednesday by the central government suggests them to take over with immediate effect.
With this, the total number of judges have increased to 68. However, the Bombay HC is 25 short of its sanctioned strength which is 98 for HC benches including Bombay, Aurangabad, Nagpur and Goa.
The advocates appointed as judges in the notification issued by law ministry are among lawyers practising at the bar. Avinash Gharote, Nitin Suryawanshi, Anil Kilor and Milind Jadhav were appointed as the additional judges of Bombay HC.

The new appointees are likely to swear-in next week and have been appointed for a two-year term. The Supreme Court collegium had suggested their names earlier in March this year after HC collegium made a proposal regarding the same in May last year.
