Recently, a part of a compound wall caved in at the Lloyds Estate, Wadala taking down at least 20 parked cars. A similar incident took place on Friday, where a boundary wall of Kalpataru Aura society—opposite to the R-City mall—developed cracks. The same was seen on the adjacent road. The cracks are believed to be huge as the drains beneath are visible.

The Kalpataru Aura society consists of 17 buildings comprising of 1247 flats. The residents are of the view that if the wall collapses then the drainage water will enter the society and will pose a threat to the society.

On Tuesday, July 3, the residents noticed a slight crack in the society’s boundary wall, after which they complained about the same to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials who had planned to repair the wall. But before the BMC workers could start the work, the wall developed cracks instilling the fear amongst residents.

This is not the first time the wall has developed cracks. Residents witnessed the same in 2017, when they wrote to the local corporator, BMC officials and the builder about the same. However, the BMC officials did not pay any heed to their complaints. In the month of October, the builder filled up the cracks with a soil but as it was a temporary solution, the wall developed the cracks again.
