Compound wall caves in at Wadala; damages seven cars

On Monday morning, due to heavy rainfall at Wadala, part of a compound wall of an under-construction site caved in. No casualty was reported, yet seven cars were damaged under the debris. Later, as a part of the rescue operation, the fire brigade department took out the cars.

The incident took place around 4:30 am where a compound wall caved in and affected neighbouring high-rise 32-floor Lloyd’s Estate, which is located opposite Vidyalankar College. Along with this, a worker is feared to be trapped under debris.  

Along with this, a negligence case has been filed against the Dosti builders. An FIR has also been registered under Section 287, 336, 431 and 427 of Indian Penal Code against the builders, Deepak Garodia, Kishen Garodia and Rajesh Shah.

After the incident, the local corporator Sufiyan Vanu said that he had complained to the BMC about the same adding that the latter did not take any action.


Meanwhile, Sanjay Kurhade, F North ward officer, said that the concerned engineers will decide if the building is safe or not.


For now, residents of B and C wing of Lloyd's Estate have been asked to vacate the building.
