Even though Mumbai, on Monday evening, September 27, crossed the 3000-mm mark, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast that indicates Mumbai is likely to receive more rain today, September 28.
As per IMD's Santacruz data, Monday's rainfall has brought the season's total precipitation to 3036.3 mm of rain.
This is the third year in a row in which the city has crossed the 3,000 mark. Reportedly, around this time last year, the rainfall in Mumbai had touched 3,681mm, while in 2019, it had received 3,635.5 mm of rain.
Last week, weather experts informed us that the rains in Mumbai are likely to pick up pace in the coming week.
Today, an orange alert is issued in the city indicating thunderstorms and lightning, gusty winds, and hefty rainfall in isolated places, followed by a yellow alert on Wednesday, September 29, with heavy to very heavy rains at remote places.
Districts in the MMR like Thane, Raigad, and Palghar are issued a red alert today indicating thunderstorms and lightning, gusty winds, and extremely heavy rains at isolated places.

Several parts of the city had recorded heavy rainfall on Monday. Santacruz recorded 39mm of rain in nine hours, ending at 5.30 PM compared to the preceding 24 hours, where it recorded 6.8mm of rain ending at 8.30 AM on Monday.
