Even though the rainfall eased out across the state on Thursday, September 23, weather experts have informed that rainfall activity is likely to pick up pace coming week due to a low-pressure area that is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a green alert till Sunday which indicates a moderate downpour. However, for Monday a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad has been issued indicating very heavy downpour at isolated places.
On the other hand, on Thursday, clear skies were observed through the day with bouts of rainfall in isolated places.
Earlier, according to the report by the Times of India, senior scientist at the Regional meteorological department centre, Dr Shubhangi Bhute had elaborated that a cyclonic situation is budding over the Bay of Bengal, as it further intensifies, the state will get further rainfall from September 20. She added that the Vidharbha region will bear the brunt first, majorly, the northern part from east to west of Maharashtra could receive heavy rains at some places. This will be followed by rains in the north part of the state, then coastal parts of Palghar, Thane and Mumbai, she mentioned.
