State to launch 'Joy Mini Train' to promote tourism

The government is working to boost tourism activities at important tourist destinations across the state. Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai has directed officials to prepare a detailed proposal for launching two "Joy Mini Trains" – one on the Mahabaleshwar-Tapola route and another on the Koynanagar-Nehru Nagar route.

Meeting with Officials for Train Proposal

Tourism Minister Desai was speaking at a meeting held at the Meghdoot government residence regarding the launch of the 'Joy Mini Train' initiative. Present at the meeting were Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department Dr. Atul Patne, Tourism Director Dr. B.N. Patil, and Nilesh Gatane, Managing Director of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC).

Minister Desai stated that the 'Joy Mini Train' is a highly popular initiative that draws tourists to prominent destinations and allows them to explore key sites in a short period. He emphasised that this initiative should be launched at a major tourist location in the state.

Work to Begin Soon

Desai directed that, similar to the model implemented in Matheran, all necessary local and technical licenses should be acquired. Additionally, a thorough evaluation of the financial benefits of the project must be conducted. The department was instructed to ensure the project is developed in a cost-effective yet visually appealing manner and that a comprehensive proposal is prepared without delay.
