The railway bridge at Prabhadevi has been closed to traffic since Friday midnight. The bridge is set to be demolished as part of the project to connect the Atal Setu with the Worli Sea Link.
This move has sparked discontent among citizens, as demolition work is about to commence. Simultaneously, preparations are underway to relocate the Western Railway ticket reservation office, which is situated in the middle of the bridge. According to the railway administration, the office will be shifted to a new location within the next two to three days.
The process of relocating the ticket counter had initially begun after the decision to close and demolish the bridge was made in April. However, the move was delayed due to postponement in the demolition work.
Now that the bridge has been closed, the relocation process will resume. While the ticket office at Parel station (on the Central Railway) has already been moved, the reservation office on the Western Railway side will also be shifted soon.
