In a scathing incident, a leopard attacked a 55-year-old woman on Wednesday evening, September 29, in Aarey Milk Colony in Goregaon (E).
The woman suffered facial injuries when a leopard pounced upon her. The horrifying incident happened around 7.45 pm in Unit 6 of Aarey and was captured on a CCTV camera.
The footage of the incident shows the leopard lurking in the shadows while a woman is seated in the courtyard of a house.
When the leopard pounced on her, the woman identified as Nirmaladevi Singh fought off the big cat with a stick. The leopard attacked her twice before she could cry for help. The locals immediately rushed towards Singh.
Singh has sustained injuries on her right cheek and was admitted to the hospital immediately, where she is reportedly out of danger.
However, it has come to light that this is not the first time a leopard has attacked a human. Reportedly, this is the third leopard attack incident of the week.
Moreover, authorities have installed cameras at the scene to monitor the cub’s movements and ensure that it isn’t attacked by any animal. Officials aren’t denying that the cub was left there by the mother, mention accounts.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, September 28, a leopard cub was found near the site of the former metro car shed in the Aarey milk colony. The cub was then rescued from Aarey’s Unit 22. The cub has undergone a medical examination and efforts are underway to trace its mother, state reports. He will be kept in the same place to see if the mother takes him and attempts to reunite them are currently underworks.
