The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) carried out a major demolition drive on Sunday, May 31, removing around 150 residential and commercial illegal structures in Amar Nagar, Khindipada, as part of the GoregaonMulund Link Road project.

The action was conducted by the encroachment removal squad of the T Ward office, which is working to clear obstructions for the upcoming east–west connectivity corridor that will link Mumbai’s western and eastern suburbs.

According to civic officials, the demolished structures were among those falling within the project alignment. The remaining 234 unauthorised constructions in the area are scheduled to be removed in the coming week as part of the next phase of the drive.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of the Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Zone 6) and led by the Assistant Commissioner of T Ward. Police personnel from Mulund Police Station, including senior officers, were deployed to maintain law and order during the demolition exercise.

The Goregaon–Mulund Link Road is a key infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity between Mumbai’s eastern and western suburbs.
