In March 2017, the Penguins could be viewed by the people visiting the zoo and in August, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) hiked the zoo's entry fee from ₹5 an adult and ₹2 a child, to ₹50 an adult and ₹100 for a family of two adults and two children.

After the hike in the entry fee, the number of people visiting the zoo had gone down, but the revenue increased as the collection went up by ₹1 lakh on weekdays and twice as much on weekends.
