Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has sanctioned INR 2 Cr from his Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) fund to revamp the rail foot over bridges in Mumbai after the Elphinstone Road station stampede rattled the city.
Sachin Tendulkar wrote a letter to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal requesting the Mumbai suburban district collector to authorise INR 2 Cr for construction.
INR 2 Cr will be divided equally between Western Railway and Central Railway from his MPLADS fund to ensure immediate renovation and construction of FOBs in as many highly populated, single bridge stations on the Western, Central and Harbour lines.
This gesture from the cricket legend will be embraced by the common man as the condition of the railway in Mumbai is something which needs attention.
