As the cases of coronavirus are on a rise, Maharashtra’s Thane district added 1,341 fresh cases taking the COVID-19 tally to 1,91,823 on Monday, as per reports.
Civic body chief Dr Vipin Sharma talking to the media stated that Thane is currently testing more than 5,600 people every day as compared to around 1,500 between the months of March and June. Since June, over 150 teams which comprised of 3,500 healthcare staffers, have been on the ground.
The district also reported 32 deaths on Sunday, October 11, taking the toll to 4,846. As of now, the maximum positive cases have been reported from the district's Kalyan town at 46,185, followed by Thane city at 40,861 and Navi Mumbai at 40,345. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 recovery rate in the district is 89.05 per cent whereas the mortality rate is 2.53 per cent.
Meanwhile, earlier on October 10, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope asserted that the government is planning to lift lockdown in the state and the same will be applicable by the end of November 2020. He further added that the other restrictions pertaining to lockdown might also be lifted across all sectors, which will help the state begin all its operations again which had halted in the month of March due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
