Update as of Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 12:01 AM - BMC has confirmed that one patient who was admitted at Apex Hospital passes away while being shifted to another hospital. 

A fire broke out at Mulund-based Apex Hospital, on Monday, October 12, 2020. 

Officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) control room confirmed the incident and stated that the fire broke outside the hospital in the shed when the generator caught fire due to short circuit. Officials from the concerned departments reached the location and attended the call. No injuries have been reported.

As per reports, the hospital was using the generator due to the power outage reported in the city on Monday. One of the members at the hospital reported the same, and the incident was handled quickly. However, it is said that the power was not restored in the area until evening.

ANI share the information on Twitter and said that the fire was "later extinguished. 40 patients - who were admitted at the hospital - were shifted to other hospitals."
